the luaf team

In her function as project manager of the Lübeck Urban Art Festival, Nina Jakubczyk from the Cultural Office of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck has brought three more experienced cultural colleagues on board. Heide Klingelhöfer, who has co-organised the Lübeck Museum Night and the Nordic Film Days Lübeck for many years, and Pascal Simm, who works for the Overbeck Society (Kunstverein Lübeck), the Lübeck museums, the "Neue Auftraggeber" and the independent art initiative Out for Art. Film scholar and DJ Jonathan Grope, on the other hand, takes care of everything concerning the press, social media and the moving image.

Together, the LUAF team has located the ten or so mural spaces in the city, landed a vacant lot as a festival centre and brought together dozens of partner actors from Lübeck's urban society, educational and cultural institutions and the independent creative scene for the more than 60 events in the LUAF programme to make LUAF a Lübeck original.

the curators of the international mural programme

Gerrit Peters, Mirko Reisser and Heiko Zahlmann have been part of Hamburg's graffiti scene since the 1980s. In order to combine forces, the three joined forces at the end of the 1990s and founded the artists' association getting-up. The artists' association brings many years of experience and diverse expertise in the field of urban contemporary art to Lübeck. Seven internationally renowned mural artists have been recruited for the first Urban Art Festival in Lübeck. In addition to local and national participants, artists from abroad will also be guests in Lübeck. An exciting compilation of contemporary positions, a correspondence of different styles, actors and origins will thus be experienced.
